Castleton blanks Lesley 4-0 behind another strong performance from Ledoux

Castleton, VT-Ashley Ledoux scored two more goals to stretch her season total to eight as the Castleton State College women’s soccer team defeated Lesley University 4-0 at Alumni Field.

Tracy Stala opened the scoring in the sixth minute when she took a through ball from Ledoux, beat the keeper and scored on the open net.

Lesley would put together several strong opportunities throughout the first half, but the Spartan defense remained strong throughout. Jodie Fralick, the NAC’s leading scorer was held scoreless although she managed four shots.

Ashley Hertford sent home Castleton’s second goal after Stefanie Reuter played a ball wide and Hertford one touched past the keeper.

Ledoux tallied both goals in the second half, the first off an assist from Stala. With Stala and Ledoux baring down on Lesley keeper, Hailee Lowe Stala deferred to the freshman for the goal. Ledoux would score again in the 70th minute to wrap up the scoring.

Micole Bellimer anchored the Spartan defense very well all afternoon, stopping nine shots in recording the shut-out for 10-6 (6-1 NAC) Castleton. Lowe ended the day with five saves as Lesley falls to 11-3-1 (4-3-1 NAC).

Castleton returns to action on Tuesday when they travel to Middlebury for a 4:00 pm non-conference match. Lelsey will host Wheelock on Wednesday in conference play. [Box Score]
