Castleton falls on the road, 1-0 to Mass.-Liberal Arts

North Adams, MA–The Castleton State College women's soccer team stumbled on the road, losing 1-0 to Massachusetts College 1-0.

First year forward, Jessica Tietgens scored her sixth goal of the season to give the host Trailblazers (4-4) a 1-0 win over the Spartans(4-3). The goal happened in the 69th minute of play when after a corner kick, fellow forward Danielle Parenteau flicked the ball on to Tietgens unmarked in the box who drove it home for the only goal of the game.

Spartan goalkeeper Micole Bellimer had an outstanding game turning away 15 of 16 Trailblazer shots on goal. MCLA knew they had to work hard to get a goal on her when she set the tone in the 28th minute making a top-notch save at the crossbar off a shot by Jackie Vye. Bellimer would go on to make seven more saves and MCLA’s Kristean Kissel would make three to keep the teams scoreless at the half.

Castleton returns home to put its undefeated conference record on the line versus Maine Maritime on Saturday at 3:00 pm. [Box Score]
