Castleton defeats Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts 3-2

Castleton, VT-In a five game match Castleton State College took the victory, winning the final game 15-13. Jamie Lemiuex ( Fort Edward, NY/Argyle) led the Spartans with three kills in the final game.

Massachusetts-Liberal Arts took the first game by score of 30-24, but the Spartans came alive in game two, winning 30-10. Lemieux was the deciding factor, recording six kills on 11 attempts. Castleton dropped game three 31-29, but bounced back in the final two games, winning 30-20 and 15-13 respectively. Overall Lemieux recorded 26 kills and nine blocks to lead the way. The 5-10 freshman also recorded six digs on the defensive side. Samantha Grisso ( Dartmouth, MA/ Dartmouth) was equally impressive for the now 5-1 Spartans assisting on 25 kills and serving up five aces for the match.

Castleton is back in action on Saturday, September 16 when they play host to Elms and Becker Colleges for their first conferences matches of the season. The Spartans take on the Blazers of Elms at 1:00 PM, followed by the Becker Hawks. MCLA falls to 1-5 with the loss, the Trailblazers play host to College of St. Joseph ( Vt.) on Saturday at 1:00 PM.
