Computer Information Systems
Concentration in Business
Through web based courses and traditional classroom experiences that utilize our regularly updated computer labs, the program provides students with an understanding of business concepts and operation, knowledge of computer programming, Database theory, the role of the internet in E-Business, and a familiarity with th development, analysis, and management of information systems. The program is career-oriented, providing a rigorous background in computer information technology plus a concentration in business.
Careers
CIS graduates are readily employable in challenging occupations. With additional experience, they can advance along any number of career paths in government, commerce, or industry to senior positions in computer information technology fields. Students are also well prepared to continue their studies at the graduate level.
Programs
In addition to the program leading to a Bachelor of Science in computer information systems, the Mathematics Department sponsors an Associate in Science in computer programming. Students can also complete a minor in CIS.
Facilities
The Academic Computing Center houses 52 computers (Windows and Macintosh) and several high speed printers forgeneral lab use. Campus-wide, there are 225 computers for student use. There are also lab classrooms and a high-tech lecture hall with internet hookups at every seat. Students are taught in department labs that have Pentium 4 computers with up-to-date software.
