Roles and Resources

Roles

One of the most significant changes in the transition from high school to college is the shift in responsibilities which many families face. The role of the initiating and negotiating requests for service becomes the responsibility of the student. Parents continue to play important roles as supporters, but parents do not have access to student records without the student's written consent.

At college, the student is now responsible for his or her own success. The college expects students to take responsibility for themselves - for their academic, social, and personal success.
