- Please bring either $20. (for skills card, book, cert., key chain CPR barrier) or $30 (for skills card, book, cert., CPR Mask). They both do the same thing, protecting the rescuer/patient from transmitting any diseases. The Key chain barrier is just smaller and easier to carry around.

 As many of you know, the campground that was hosting us in Sabael, NY told us their infrastructure would not be able to accommodate us almost last minute. Fortunately, Conference lives on especially thanks to Nick Korda and the rest of the Castleton Outing Club crew!

 We will be having the event at Bomoseen State Park near the Castleton State College campus. There are many more things for us to do up there than the last location, so the weekend is bound to be a blast! I hope you are ready because we are. Here are a few things you can do while up there:

·         Hiking (√Birdseye Mt. – √Rattlesnake Ridge – *Hanley Mt. (Hang Glider hill) – √AT & LT – √Mt. Zion – √Glen Lake – *MORE)

·         Mountain Biking (*Pine Park – √Birdseye Back loop – *CSC trails – *Rail Trail – *MORE)

·         Indoor Climbing (√CSC Rock Wall – *GMRCC – *The Wall – *Petra)

·        Outdoor Rock Climbing & Rappelling (√Deers Leap – √Watkins Hill Rd. Ravine – *Falls of Launa – *Bolton – √Birdseye Back Side)

·         *Visit local historical sights (Mt. Independence – CSC Village – MORE)

·         *Take a trip to Smugglers’ Notch, the Adirondacks, Rumney, etc – all about 2 hours away

 We will have a check-in table at the park entrance where we will also be shuttling people and their cars around – we need to park nearby. So look out for that. We will check you in, hand you trip information such as maps, and get you all settled there. Friday 17th - Friday 24th: Green Mountain Club - Hosting the "Appalachian Trail Conservancy Biennial Conference" in Vermont @ CSC!

July 17-24, 2009 in Castleton, Vermont

The GMC will host the 2009 Appalachian Trail Conservancy Biennial Conference at Castleton State College. We need hundreds of volunteers to plan and run the conference, which will accommodate 800-1000 outdoor enthusiasts. (The last time the GMC hosted the ATC Biennial Conference was in 1985 at Green Mountain College.)

July 17-24, 2009 will be a week of celebrating and learning about the 2,170-mile Appalachian Trail. Hikers will come to Vermont from all over the U.S. Many will be AT thru-hikers or section hikers still working to complete the trail. Anyone coming to the conference can enjoy the following activities:
