Frequently Asked Questions
Can I get involved in Student Activities on campus?
Yes! Every Castleton student is more than welcome and, in fact, is strongly encouraged, to participate in Castleton's student activities. There are many clubs, intramural and intercollegiate sports, and activities that may interest you.
Do you have to be an athlete or Physical Education major to use the gym?
The gyms, pool, and racquetball courts are available to all Castleton students and their families. You (or your dependents) just need to show an I.D. or membership card. A schedule is published at the beginning of each semester. For more information, contact the S.H.A.P.E. Office.
Where and how can I find out about off-campus housing?
Off-campus housing information is available in the Student Life Office in the Campus Center. There is an off-campus housing book where apartments, houses, and rooms for rent are listed by local landlords.
Can I use the campus health services?
Yes! The health services are available to all Castleton students, living on or off campus. The director can diagnose and treat ordinary acute health problems. The health services are located on the south side of campus in the Wellness Center.
How do I find out what is going on at Castleton?
It's easy! Just check the Castleton web site or your Groupwise email for the Daily Events Calendar, watch for signs and posters on the campus bulletin boards, check the Student Association board outside Woodruff Hall, watch for CSC's cable station (channel 23) around campus, and be sure to check your campus mailbox!
Are all students allowed to have a car on campus, and if so, where do I park?
Yes, all students are allowed to have a car on campus. Commuter students can park in the commuter lots only, which are behind the Campus Center, behind the library, next to the Jeffords Center for Science and Mathematics, and past campus on South Street. All cars must have a parking sticker which is available free of charge from the Public Safety Department. (These stickers must be validated every year.) Check the Student Handbook/Calendar for regulations and more details.
Where are the pay phones located on campus?
All the pay phones have been removed from campus. We do have courtesy phones in all buildings allowing students to make local or credit card calls.
Where can I study?
You can study in the library (out in the open or in the private study rooms), the Campus Center, Leavenworth Hall, and the Academic Support Center on the first floor of Babcock Hall. |
