The Goal of the Emerging Leaders Class of 2006: The Emerging Leaders, Class of 2006, are learning to become leaders. They have the help of Victoria Angis, Assistant Dean of Campus Life, Andrea Silva McManus (Alumni Board of Directors and Class of 1986), and their class advisor.
The Class of 2006 have joined in the efforts set forth by the Class of 2005 to raise enough money to improve the amphitheatre that is outside the Campus Center.

Each Emerging Leader group has a Castleton alumni to facilitate, mentor, and support the group. The class of 2006 is mentored by Andrea Silva McManus. She is on the Alumni Board of Directors and part of the Class of 1986
Andrea graduated from Castleton with a bachelor of Social Work Degree in 1986. Immediately following Castleton, she attended Miami University in Oxford, Ohio on a full scholarship. She graduated two years later with a Master's Degree in Student Affairs including serving as an Associate Dean of Students at a small college in the Pacific Northwest.
Andrea is the program coordinator for the Department of Education's high School Renewal and Innovation efforts and is proud of the newly released report from Vermont's high School Task Force that sets a clear vision for high |
school renewal in Vermont. Andrea is in her fourth year of service to the Department.
She is a doctoral student at the University of Vermont pursuing an Ed. D in Educational Leadership and Policy studies. Prior to working at the Department Andrea spent a few formative years working at the Boston Private Industry Council building employer/school/business partnerships. It was here her interest in high school reform solidified. Her work experience includes higher education, welfare to work, school to work and employment and training.
Andrea likes to point out strong academic and leadership experiences she had at Castleton have been invaluable in her development personally and professionally. She had many opportunities to practice the leadership skills she relies upon in her professional life today. |
