"WHAT IS THE Type Focus Instrument and WHAT DOES IT DO?"
The Type Focus Instrument is a self-assessment questionnaire, which takes about 1 hour to complete. There are no "right" or "wrong" answers. Learning about your "type" is one of the most positive things you will ever do for yourself and for everyone around you!
Type Focus helps you answer; Who am I? Who do I want to work with? What do I like?
Why do I like it? Where do I want to live? What type of work setting is best for me?
Why do others do what they do? How can I get along better with class-mates, room-mates, significant others, colleagues at work? How can I make clearer decisions?
Results of your questionnaire go directly to the Director of Career Development. You need to make an appointment to interpret the results. Your results are kept confidential.

your future!
What does the Career Code Map do?
The
customized Career Code Map does several things. It helps you identify:
Your Values
Work Interests
Work Activities you might enjoy
Potential Skills
Internship & Career Ideas to Investigate
Majors and Minors to pursue
Castleton Campus Activities you might enjoy
How do I use the Career Code Map?
The Career Code Map does NOT tell you "Go be THIS." Or "Go do THAT." The Career Code Map helps your focus on specific areas that YOU dentified as being of interest to you. The job titles suggested are only a fraction of the THOUSANDS of job titles listed in the Dictionary of Occupational Titles. Use them just as a suggestion of AREAS OF INTEREST to start your search.
The Majors and Minors listed are only those available at Castleton.
You can also use the Career Code Map to link your interests, majors, minors, co-curricular activities, & internship ideas to all 5 VSC Colleges (VSC Master Listing).
The
Campus Activities listed are only those currently up and running at
Castleton. If you dont see one of interest and have an idea for
a new one come see us! Start your own!
FOCUS
II has added features which include websites for Graduate schools organized
by discipline, as well as information about financial aid.
We
suggest you make an appointment with Career Development Office to help
you interpret your results and make the most of the Castleton Career
Code Map.
