SERVICE-LEARNING FACULTY DEVELOPMENT SERIES

The Robert T. Stafford Center for the Support and Study of the Community currently offers a spring Service-Learning Faculty Development Series. The series is for faculty members interested in developing a service-learning course for the following academic year. It is designed to give faculty and community partners a broader understanding of service-learning. Additionally, it provides them the opportunity to create a quality service-learning course.

The series includes a facilitator, up to six faculty members that are interested in developing a service-learning course, and a community partner (if possible) for each faculty member. Faculty will commit to attend all training sessions (five evening meetings) and to integrate service-learning into at least one course within the next academic year. Continued commitment is also expected. For participation and commitment to exploring and integrating service-learning, each faculty member will receive:
Service-Learning Resources
$1000 stipend (to be paid at the end of the series)
Dinner each evening

All faculty members interested in active learning, service to the community, and an opportunity to enhance their teaching skills, are encouraged to apply. Once accepted, you will receive several service-learning articles to be read prior to the workshop and you will be contacted to discuss possible community partners. For more information or to receive an application, please contact Chrispin White at 468- 1431.
