News Flash: Student Association helps build library DVD collection. . . . . . .

Thanks to funding from the Student Association, and from a college Educational Resources grant, the library is purchasing a fine collection of classic films on DVD. Many are still being processed, but an exciting assortment of new titles have already made it to the library shelves.

Remember, the library's collection of DVDs is out in the open, in a new display area to the left of the stairs. It works like a video rental store, without the rental price! Come to the library to take a look, or click here for an alphabetical list of all Library DVDs. (All DVDs are also cataloged in the Online Catalog.) Note that members of the Castleton College community (students, faculty, staff, administrators) may check out DVDs. The library also has several DVD players and monitors for in-library viewing.

Before you head off to the store for a weekend film, take a look at the library's collection. You WON'T find new releases here. You WILL find any number of films guaranteed to make you think. The collection is growing: stop by often to see what's new.

Recent classic film purchases were selected from the following:

• The American Film Institute's 100 Greatest Movies of all Time.
• The A List: The National Society of Film Critics' 100 Essential Films.
• Critics Richard Corliss and Richard Schickel's All-Time 100 Movies.
• The "Essential Movies" list from Tom Wiener's THE OFF-HOLLYWOOD FILM GUIDE (available in the library: REF 791.4375 W636o)
