My Account
You may view the status of your library account from the Online Catalog. Click "My Account" on the menu bar at the top. You will see a list of items you checked out and when they are due. If you need items longer, you can renew them before the due date arrives.

Renewals
Items may be renewed once. You may call on the phone (468-1256), renew from the Online Catalog (choose "My Account" on the menu bar), or bring the item in for renewal. If you need to use an item beyond one renewal, you must bring it to the library to extend the loan period.

Reserve Materials
Books, articles, and videos may be placed on reserve by class instructors for specific courses each semester. The circulation of these items is limited and reserves are shelved at the circulation desk for quick access by students in the course. Most reserve materials may be borrowed for three hours at a time, and must stay in the library. There is a binder at the circulation desk with a complete list of reserve materials for each course. A fine is charged for overdue reserves at the rate of $1.00 per hour.

For Faculty – Reserve Policies and Procedures
Bring all the books, articles or videos to be placed on reserve to the Circulation desk. Fill out a reserve materials list for each class with complete information for each item. Please refer to the VSC Copyright Policy. Please allow one working day for processing materials to be placed on reserve. As required by the VSC Copyright policy, the library must receive a permission for use form for unpublished materials (example: student papers).

InterLibrary Loans
Materials borrowed from other libraries may be picked up and dropped off at the circulation desk.

Security System
The alarm sounds when a non-circulating item leaves the building. Sometimes textbooks from the bookstore will set off the alarm. If the alarm sounds as you leave or enter the library, a person at the circulation desk will help you find out the cause so you can continue on your way. Your cooperation will help us maintain the security of the collection.

Book Returns
Books may be returned either to the circulation desk, or to the drop box outside the front doors of the library. Please return AV materials to the circulation desk only.

Holds
A hold may be placed on an item that is checked out to another patron. When the item is returned, it will be held for the person who placed the hold. Ask for assistance at the circulation desk to place a hold.

Overdue materials
When an item is one week overdue, the library sends a notice requesting its return. A second notice is sent when an item is 21 days overdue. If materials are not returned 35 days after the date due, the borrower is billed the cost of the item plus a $10.00 processing fee for each item.

A hold will be placed on the accounts of students with extensive library fines or outstanding books. A student with a hold will be unable to register for classes, receive an official transcript, or receive a diploma until their account is resolved. Guest borrowers with delinquent accounts will not be allowed to check out any more materials until their account is resolved.

Photocopiers
Three photocopy machines are located near the circulation desk. These copiers are coin-operated; copies cost $.10 per page. The circulation staff is available to assist with copier operations.

Microforms
Five reader/printer machines are available in the microforms area. Copies made from microfilm or microfiche cost $.10 per page. The circulation staff is available to assist with operation of these machines.
