Performing Groups

The Castleton Music Department at Castleton offers many opportunities for students to participate in ensembles. All of Castleton's ensembles perform at the highest level of quality to match the demands of exceptional literature.

At Castleton all of the primary performing groups are comprised completely of registered students. This means that students get the opportunity to hold leadership positions such as concertmaster or section principles in Wind Ensemble, and to maximize their playing time in special elements such as extended solos in Jazz Ensemble or Chorale.

In addition to the more traditional collegiate ensembles, Castleton offers the opportunity for students to create, recruit, rehearse and perform their own special ensembles, and still earn credit for doing so. Recent student-initiated ensembles have performed extensively at college events and sporting events, in the lodges at Killington, and on department recitals and performances.
