Marie McMarrow has perfrmed as soprano soloist with many orchestras and ensembles including the Jamaica Philharmonic Orchestra, the San Louis Orchestra of Argentina, and the Tubingen Orchestra of Germany. Other performances include numerous opera, oratorio and solo recitals in Jamaica, the Cayman Islands, Canada, Ireland, Holland and the United States. Ms. McMarrow won the 1993 and 1994 Jamaica Music Industry Awards for best female vocalist (classical and chamber music). She also won a Dutch Government Scholarship and in 1995 became the first singer in the Netherlands to receive a grant from the Uri Egoruff Foundation, an award usually given to piano students. Recordings include Handel’s Messiah (2002) with the Grace Church Choir and Orchestra, Portrait of an Artist, produced by the Jamaica School of Music, and Songs of Jamaica to be released in March 2004. |
