Bruce Williams of Poultney has been hired as clerk of the works for the Castleton Student Initiative project. He has worked for the City of Rutland Public Schools for 32 years and has been involved in numerous construction projects. For the past nine years, he has been director of buildings and grounds. He is a 1973 graduate of Castleton.

As clerk of the works, he will monitor day-to-day construction operations and represent the college to ensure both the quality of materials and workmanship.
          
Director of Physical Plant Chuck Lavoie says, “Bruce will be a big help getting these projects done on time and on budget.”

June 2, 2008 - Work begins on Glenbrook Gymnasium. The first phase of the project will be the removal of the old bleachers and gym floor. Advisory on Access to Glenbrook and Parking

May 19, 2008 - Act 250 hearing.

April 15, 2008 - Castleton files Act 250 land use permit.

March 18, 2008 - Public hearing held by the Castleton Development Review Board. President Wolk says, "I'm here to listen to concerns and address them."

March 2008 - DEW Construction of Williston selected to oversee the Campus Center and gymnasium projects. Engelberth Construction selected to oversee the stadium and fields.

December 18, 2007 - After two days of indepth presentations, JMZ selected as architectural firm for the Campus Center and gymnasium. Stantec selected as architects for the stadium and fields and to coordinate permitting.

October 29, 2007 - President Wolk announces historic construction and renovation project at a press conference in the Campus Center

October 25, 2007 - Funding approved by the VSC Board of Trustees as part of a $72 million bond initiative through the VSC that will fund projects at all the state colleges.

June 22, 2007 - President Wolk, faculty, staff, and students make a presentation before the VSC Board of Trustees

2006-2007 - A committee of faculty, staff, and students met to plan the Student Initiative, then called Phase IV of the Master plan.
