Safe Ride & Safe Walk
The mission of the Castleton Safe Ride System is to:
Provide a safe ride home if students are uncomfortable driving with the person they left with (i.e. 'bad date", a designated driver who started drinking, etc.)
Provide a ride for students whose driver left them at a location
Provide a ride for students who experienced car problems
Provide a ride for students who are under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
Safe Ride will operate every Thursday through Saturday night from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m.
Sorry everyone, Safe Ride will not run in bad weather....so stay in!
Check your Voicemail for cancellations or call Public Safety.
We can only travel within a 10 mile radius to pick you up. This radius includes Poultney, Fair Haven, Bomoseen, and some areas of Rutland and West Rutland.
We can not cross the border to New York. Sorry Flubberbusters!
How to get involved
You can volunteer for Safe Ride at anytime, just contact Laura Hain or call the Wellness Center at ext. 1346.
How to get a fleet License
Driving tests are given on Wednesdays. All you have to do is call Public Safety and make an appointment. You do not have to have a Fleet License to be part of Safe Ride, but it is best if you do.
